The famous Ukrainian actress Irma Vitovska expressed her opinion about the possibility of ending the war through peace negotiations with Russia. This topic caused a wide resonance in society, where, according to Vitovska, there is no unanimous position on this issue. However, she emphasizes that one thing is clear to everyone: thousands of people gave their lives for Ukraine, and these sacrifices cannot be ignored.
Vitovska, answering the question about possible concessions to Russia, admitted that this topic is very difficult for her. She expressed the opinion that the authorities are currently "probing people's opinions" regarding a possible end to the war through negotiations. The actress perceives the idea of Ukraine's relinquishment of Donbas and Crimea particularly keenly.
"I don't understand where the new borders will be drawn," she said. In addition, Vitovska doubts that such concessions will satisfy Russia. "Then what did he [Putin] win? That is, we are returning to what was before 2022, the Russian language is already protected by the Constitution here, as well as any language of national minorities. And what was it then?” - asked the actress rhetorically.
Vitovska expressed her lack of understanding of how to negotiate with Russia after so many deaths and destroyed lives. In her opinion, these people did not die in order to give territories to the aggressor country now. She also raised questions about responsibility for the destruction of Ukrainian cities and the death of people, especially children, as well as about reparations, which justice requires.
"And where did our people, our cities go? And then where are the reparations? What was it, where you killed so many people, so many children? Who will return the maimed, disfigured, and morally and psychologically, who will put them in their place?" - asked Irma Vitovska, emphasizing the importance of remembering the victims of this war and the need for justice.
