The Spanish newspaper El Mundo published an article claiming that Western partners are considering the possibility of temporarily moving President Volodymyr Zelensky to London during the upcoming presidential elections. The publication cites anonymous sources in Ukrainian diplomatic circles who report that this initiative is being discussed as a way to avoid internal political tension during the election process.
"For two weeks now, there have been rumors that, if the truce does happen, the West is preparing a "golden exile" for Volodymyr Zelensky in London, while Ukraine holds presidential elections, postponed from 2023 due to the war," - reads articles
According to the newspaper, "this step will be accompanied by rapid accession to the EU, economic aid for recovery and the deployment of European peacekeeping forces."
The publication does not specify for what reason the Ukrainian president will be offered "exile" and whether he will take part in the elections (judging by the "golden exile" - he will not).
Other media did not report on such a scenario after the hypothetical cessation of war.
Earlier, a number of British media wrote that Zelenskyi may lose to their ex-head Zaluzhny in the presidential elections. And that the rating of the Ukrainian president is now at the level of 16%.
