Foreign volunteers who have joined the struggle of Ukraine against Russian aggression do not always have a romantic idea of the war. One of these is a Spanish soldier who is fighting in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In an interview with the Spanish edition of El Periodico, he spoke about corruption, unfair distribution of resources and tension between commanders and ordinary fighters.
According to the foreign military, the key problem is corruption on the front. "Commanders come in two types: some honest, others do not. The money goes on the chain and each chief disposes of them at his discretion," he said. Some of them, he said, behave like real criminal bosses. In some units, even attempts to eliminate such commanders by subordinates.
The legionnaire adds that Ukrainian troops often suffer from elementary deficit - from clothing to ammunition. It does not hide the disappointment of reality, which is often far from the official picture.
The Spaniard emphasizes that many foreigners who joined the Armed Forces have actually become guns. At the same time, the state does not always fulfill the promised conditions of payment or security.
"We are used, and then they try not to pay," he says, describing the situation with the wages of the so -called "soldiers of luck."
The foreign military does not deny the heroism of many Ukrainians who are risking their lives every day. But at the same time, he draws attention to demoralization among civilians and general fatigue from the war. "The Ukrainians themselves often do not want to go to the front, so volunteers are sometimes perceived as consuming material," the legionary notes.
This interview is not the first where foreign military critically evaluates the realities of the front in Ukraine. It can become another alarming bell for the Ukrainian authorities, which must not only call for help, but also order in its own military rear.
