It became known under what conditions prostitution can be legalized in Ukraine

Commercial intimate services in Ukraine may be partially exempted from criminal punishment. At the same time, strict control over this sphere is planned. Deputy Head of the National Police Andriy Nebytov stated this in an interview with "Telegraph".

According to him, in the context of European integration, Ukraine is considering the possibility of partial decriminalization of prostitution. This is not about full legalization, but about excluding certain forms of intimate services from criminal prosecution - provided that they are clearly regulated.

" This should not turn into chaos and permissiveness. We are talking about strict control and clear rules ," Nebitov emphasized.

He emphasized that prostitution is often linked to human trafficking and exploitation, and that the management of this "market" is often concentrated in the hands of criminal groups. That is why reforms in this area must take into account not only the economic or legal, but also the security context.

In addition, as the representative of the National Police clarified, as part of the adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to EU standards, changes are already being prepared that provide for non-prosecution of victims of human trafficking who were forced to provide intimate services.

Thus, the state seeks to reduce the pressure on individuals who find themselves in a situation of coercion and instead focus on combating traffickers and organizers of exploitation.

"We should protect victims, not punish them. This is a principle that underlies European law enforcement," Nebitov noted.

It is expected that relevant legislative initiatives may appear in the near future.
