President Volodymyr Zelensky has approved the candidacy of former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny for the position of Ukraine's Ambassador to the United Kingdom. According to Mykhailo Podoliak, advisor to the head of the President's Office, Zaluzhny is expected to begin his duties in the new position in the coming weeks.
Podoliak emphasized that the agrement procedures (the government's prior consent to accept a certain person as the head of a diplomatic mission) and protocol issues have already been agreed upon. He added that some organizational issues still require attention.
"I believe that this issue should be resolved within a few weeks. Some logistical aspects are still under consideration," Podoliak noted.
The advisor to the head of the President's Office emphasized that he sees no reason to politicize Zaluzhny's appointment and urged citizens to be calm regarding issues of resignations or rotations in management personnel.
Recall that on February 8, President Zelensky dismissed Valeriy Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and appointed Oleksandr Syrsky to this position. The President also noted that Zaluzhny himself expressed a desire to work in the diplomatic sphere.
