A couple in the Kyiv region will stand trial for a cruel act - the parents abandoned their newborn baby boy on the street, wrapped in bedding and placed in a bag. According to police, the child was abandoned to its fate in the city of Bohuslav.
The incident occurred in early 2025 in the Obukhiv district. According to police, a 36-year-old woman gave birth to a son at home, without medical care or sanitary conditions. A 67-year-old man, the child's biological father, was present during the birth, and he cut the umbilical cord himself. After that, by prior agreement, the parents wrapped the child in cloth, put it in a caged bag, and took it to Bohuslav in a car. There, the baby was left near one of the private houses, in a life-threatening condition.
Fortunately, caring citizens found the child in time and called the paramedics. The boy's life is now out of danger.
Police investigators have already sent an indictment to the court. The mother is charged under Part 2 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — “Leaving in Danger,” which provides for up to three years of imprisonment. Her roommate, who was an accomplice, is charged under Part 5 of Article 27 and Part 2 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — “Aiding in Leaving in Danger.”.
