In the Kherson region, a corruption scheme was exposed during the repair and reconstruction of shelters, which caused the budget to suffer losses of over UAH 5.5 million.
According to law enforcement, the head of a private construction company concluded agreements with communities of the Kherson district and the city of Kherson. In 2023, he overestimated the volume and cost of work during the overhaul of the shelter in the support lyceum. More than 4 million UAH was transferred from the budget, of which more than half a million was misappropriated.
The technical supervision engineer, who was supposed to monitor the work, actually ignored the inspections and signed fictitious acts, which caused additional losses in the amount of almost UAH 490 thousand.
In 2024, the same company repeated the scheme during the reconstruction of a shelter in a medical facility in Kherson, which is also used as a storage facility during shelling. The overstatement of data in the documentation allowed it to unjustifiably receive more than 5 million UAH.
Law enforcement officers are currently investigating all the circumstances of the case and identifying those involved in the misappropriation of funds.
