The new head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration, Serhiy Tyurin, reported that the Khmelnytskyi region, together with the Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Cherkasy, and Poltava regions, are constructing fortifications in the Donetsk region.
“I can’t say for obvious reasons how many workers and equipment were brought there from the region,” Tyurin noted.
He emphasized that construction work is being carried out quickly and efficiently, in accordance with the project documentation, and began in 2024. Tyurin also emphasized that the workers are at a safe distance from the line of combat operations, so there is no threat to their lives.
According to the head of the regional state administration, over 3,000 shelters, including educational institutions, are operating in the Khmelnytskyi region. Also, 2,000 additional shelters were put into operation during the war.
Tyurin emphasized that there is a working group in Khmelnytskyi region that monitors the effective use of budget funds. About 300 purchases were analyzed, and violations were found in 32 of them, amounting to 138 million hryvnias.
“Investing in the construction of school shelters is justified, as educational institutions are places of mass gathering of people who need an appropriate level of protection. In addition, rockets and “Shaheeds” are not always directed at large cities, and these dangers can become for villages,” he added.
A temporary investigative commission on fortifications and the purchase of drones was established by the Verkhovna Rada. The commission was headed by Mykola Zadorozhny, a People's Deputy from the Servant of the People party.
