Ukrainian users became the target of a new wave of fraud - this time, under the guise of a request to sign an electronic petition. The attackers massively send messages with false links that allegedly lead to the official site of Electronic Petitions.
According to law enforcement officers, the scheme works simply: the victim receives a message asking to support a petition, for example, about the assignment of a honorary title. The link transition leads to a fake site where they are asked to authorize or enter personal data. As a result, fraudsters receive access to accounts and can steal not only password logins, but also other confidential information.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs remind that first of all it is worth checking the address of the site - it should start with an official domain, without unnecessary symbols and grammatical errors. If the link is received from an unknown number, postal address or messenger, it is likely that it is fraud.
Experts advise not to move on such links, not to enter personal data and to check information through official resources. In the case of suspicious activity, cyber police should be reported.
The Cyber Police of Ukraine has already recorded more than 12 thousand cases of data theft through phishing references only in 2024. Although the schemes change, the main purpose of the attackers is unchanged - to access the personal or financial data of citizens.
This case happened shortly after the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office filed a case against a pseudo -assets, who took possession of three apartments in the capital. The attacker forged the documents and issued himself for a relative of the deceased homeowners.
