A scheme of possible illegal overpricing of electricity prices for educational institutions in the Desnyanskyi district has been exposed in Kyiv. According to the investigation, as a result of the official's actions, the budget suffered overpayments of more than 1.8 million hryvnias.
The suspicion was reported to the authorized person for the organization and conduct of public procurement of the Education Department of the Desnyan District State Administration. Her actions were qualified as abuse of office, which led to serious consequences.
The investigation established that between January and September 2023, the official signed additional agreements to contracts for the supply of electricity to educational institutions in the district. According to law enforcement officers, these agreements were concluded contrary to the requirements of the law and provided for the supply of electricity at prices that significantly exceeded the average market price.
Law enforcement officers believe that the actions were carried out in the interests of the supplier company, and their consequence was an overpayment of budget funds in the amount of more than 1.8 million hryvnias.
If found guilty, the official faces a sentence of imprisonment for a term of three to six years. The deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in relevant activities for a term of up to three years and the imposition of a fine are also possible.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is ongoing.
