The number of visits to doctors due to mental disorders has tripled in Ukraine

In the first nine months of 2024, the number of appeals by Ukrainians to family doctors, therapists and pediatricians for mental health issues has increased sharply. According to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, 353,049 patients , including 54,464 children , sought medical help for mental disorders, which is more than three times higher than last year.

The main reasons for appeals

Most often, Ukrainians turned to doctors through:

  • anxiety, nervousness or tension – 150,236 patients,
  • sleep disorders – 98,043 patients,
  • other psychological symptoms – 58,605 patients,
  • depressed mood - 20,707 patients.

15,177 appeals from parents regarding behavioral and psychological problems in children were recorded
