The new head of the State Agency of Water Resources Igor Gopchak declares a modest housing in Kiev - a room in a hostel with an area of 21.3 m². But with a careful analysis of his declaration, another question is: is modesty - the main feature of the official?
Gopchak has lived in the dormitory of the Middle Dnieper basin from 2021. Meanwhile, his family - Alona's wife and two children - lives in Rivne. It is there that the main property of the family was declared: two apartments with a total area of more than 140 m², of which one Gopchak shares with probable parents, and the other wife purchased in 2014 - even then estimated at more than one million hryvnias.
But the key object is 2.68 hectares of land, which Alona Gopchak purchased in the fall of 2024 in the village of Novozhukiv in Rivne region for… 92 600 UAH. It is about UAH 34.5 thousand per hectare. Against the backdrop of market prices, even in rural areas, it looks more than modest. To be said, it is suspiciously cheap.
The family fleet is limited to one car - Toyota Camry 2013. According to the documents, Gopchak purchased it in 2022 for 178 thousand hryvnias-the cost, to put it mildly, lower than market even for that time.
In terms of income, Gopchak earned over one million hryvnias in 2024, another 76 thousand for teaching in two universities. His wife has income in LLC "Akord-C" and "Russia"-for two it is 140 thousand hryvnias. It is noteworthy that both enterprises are little -known, their activities do not cause wide resonance in the public field.
According to the declaration, the family does not trust the banks: Igor keeps $ 19,000 in cash, his wife - another 6.5 thousand. It is about one million hryvnias, which is stored "under the mattress" at a time when the official lives in the departmental hostel.
Igor Gopchak is also an assistant to the People's Deputy Alexander Kovalchuk on a public basis. This detail may indicate its links in higher political circles.
Despite the external modesty and lack of flashy luxury, the declaration of the head of the water agency contains sufficient questions: low purchase prices, opaque income of the wife, the lack of bank accounts - all this deserves at least journalistic interest.
And possibly - the attention of law enforcement officers.
