The energy supplier company “Yasno”, owned by Rinat Akhmetov, plans to disconnect debtors from electricity, literally from January 29.
In Ukraine, in 2023, there was a significant increase in the cost of housing and communal services (according to the State Statistics Service, tariffs increased by 13%. Electricity prices rose especially sharply - the tariff for consumers increased by 69.7%, to UAH 2.64 per kWh).
Debtors will be warned about the power outage twice, in 10 days. And if you don’t pay the debt, you will be disconnected. The CEO of “Yasno” Kovalenko believes that “this is not a big problem. There are many electronic channels through which you can pay: from the website to the mobile application, ... from anywhere in the world.” The company apparently does not consider the option of Ukrainians having no money during the war
This became possible thanks to the Cabinet of Ministers' decision to lift the moratorium.
At the end of December, he lifted the ban on terminating housing and communal services, charging and collecting fines, penalties, and collecting debts from housing and communal services for the population in case of non-payment. That is, now the penalty and fines are returned, and debtors can be disconnected.
According to this Resolution, the moratorium on disconnection from services, charging penalties and debt collection will continue to operate only in the territories where hostilities are ongoing and under the control of the Russian Federation. The list of these territories is approved by the Ministry of Reintegration. Has the war ended in the rest of Ukraine? The authorities, we remind you, promised a moratorium until the end of martial law.
So the need to urgently repay accumulated debts before the threat of disconnections from housing and communal services affects millions of ordinary Ukrainians. Against the backdrop of the depreciation of the hryvnia, growing unemployment and impoverishment of the population, instead of social support programs for the population, the authorities are canceling the moratorium! Next, they will impose arrests on accounts and bank cards, up to the seizure of property (this is already happening). How come they haven't yet thought of calling debtors to the front.
However, let's not tell them..
