In the capital, the director of the Department of Environmental Protection and adaptation to the climate of KSCA Alexander Vozny was released. The wording is traditional: “By agreement of the parties”. However, for the Kiev eco community, this event has a different meaning - as the completion of the period of sabotage of environmental initiatives and the silence of critical problems.
Vozny headed the Department since 2021. During this time there were both public presentations and launching of the air monitoring system. But against the background of formal actions, it is complete passivity about the real threats to the environment of the capital.
Among the accusations that have repeatedly sounded from activists and deputies of the Kyiv City Council:

lack of adequate response to a large -scale fire in the ecosystems of OSOKORKS;

ignoring the situation with illegal construction on Trukhanov Island and Lysi Gora;

obstruction of the initiatives for the preservation of the nature reserve fund;

The silence of the destruction of green areas in the city.
In fact, the department that should be a defender of nature in the city became a background institution - against the background of a rapid advance of building and increasing climatic challenges.
The liberation of Vozny occurred against the background of a general fall in trust in the Kyiv City Administration. In recent months, other scandals have been in the spotlight - in particular, the "elite party" at the object of critical infrastructure on the day of mourning, which was arranged by the first deputy mayor Mykola Povoroznik. And also - a video of drinking in the tourism management office, which caused a wave of indignation in society.
It is unknown at this time who will head the environmental department instead of a good. However, experts already warn that there is almost no time in this area of time - the building is in full swing. In the future, Kyiv runs the risk of losing even more valuable natural areas.
