The Kyiv City Military Administration announced the launch of a mechanism to return funds stolen from the Department of Social and Veteran Policy of the Kyiv City State Administration. According to the head of the KMVA, Timur Tkachenko, the first tranche will be credited to the capital's budget with UAH 12.5 million and six vehicles, which will later be transferred to the needs of the security and defense forces.
Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Timur Tkachenko reported that the military administration is implementing instruments to compensate for losses caused to the Kyiv community "due to banal corruption and conspiracy." These are criminal proceedings, within the framework of which the SBU previously exposed the leadership of the Department of Social and Veterans Policy of the Kyiv City State Administration and related entrepreneurs in large-scale embezzlement of funds intended for sick citizens and veterans. The amount of losses, according to the investigation, reaches almost 75 million UAH.
According to Tkachenko, some of those involved admit their guilt and agree to compensation. The KMVA, as the injured party, filed appropriate applications and achieved the transfer of the first amounts to the capital's budget - 12.5 million UAH and six cars. After the final procedures, they plan to transfer them to the needs of the security and defense forces.
The official also recalled that earlier the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office had appealed to the Kyiv City State Administration to recognize the city as the injured party and return the funds, but received refusals. "The City Hall did not look for an opportunity to return the stolen goods to the community. Therefore, it did not consider itself and all of us, Kyiv residents, to be the injured party," Tkachenko noted.
The KMVA assures that compensation will continue in the future, and the returned assets will be used as a priority to strengthen the city's defense during martial law.
