The higher anti-corruption court acquitted former members of the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NKREKP) Borys Tsyganenko and Yurii Gollyak from criminal liability for official negligence.
In addition, civil claims for damages will not be considered now.
The reason is that the statute of limitations has expired. The defense side believes that the criminal offense was completed as early as 2016 - when the members of the NCRECP voted for the implementation of the "Rotterdam+" formula.
The prosecutor did not object to the granting of the petition, but noted that the crime was completed already after the vote.
We will remind you that it is about a scandal regarding Ukraine's purchase of coal from the Russian Federation. Approval of this formula led to an increase in the cost of all electrical energy. As a result, consumers suffered losses in the total amount of about UAH 39 billion.
