Uzhgorod, February 1, 2025 - during a special operation of law enforcement officers a car with two famous persons was detained, including former football player of Lviv "Carpathians" Mikhail Kopolovets. The car, white BMW X6 with Lviv numbers, owns Irina Wagner, associate professors of Lviv National University. At the wheel was her relative, Oleg Wagner, who is suspected of drug trafficking.
The car was stopped by special forces, and the salon was found with bags with cocaine. At the time of detention with Oleg Wagner and Mikhail Kopolovets, there were two more men in the car.
The media reported that Mikhail Kopolovets, who had previously gained popularity thanks to his performances for the Carpathians and Transcarpathian Minaj, was one of the passengers of this vehicle. After completing his football career, he began to engage in public activity and work as an assistant to the deputy of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, Andrei Sheket, where he advised him on sports.
Mikhail Kopolovets became popular in 2012 after his emotional interview, in which he spoke about how before each game his team went to church. This statement quickly became a meme and dispersed on the Internet, which lifted the football player to the level of a cult figure among fans.
Currently, Kopolovets does not comment on his involvement in the incident. It is noted that he recorded a video that stated that everything was fine with him, but did not specify the details of the situation.
Oleg Wagner, known for his speeches at the Lviv Futsal Association and participation in the Elite Business League tournament, is now under investigation with drug trafficking.
The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers find out all the circumstances of the detention.
Conclusion: This situation reminds once again how sports glory and personal ties can be at the center of the scandal, and people who are usually under close attention of the public may become part of criminal investigations.
