NABU and the SAP have sued a case against the former prosecutor of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, which is currently working as a lawyer. He is being accused of refusing to provide criminal proceedings on theft of gold confiscated during the pre -trial investigation.
The investigation found that a group of prosecutors of the GPU took possession of the removed gold, which disappeared during the investigation. One of them is already accused of misappropriation of property, and now his former colleague was suspected. He had information about the crime, but did not want to cooperate with the investigation - neither at the pre -trial investigation or court.
On February 11, 2025, the ex-prosecutor officially reported suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 385 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (refusal of a witness to provide testimony). On the same day, the case was brought to court.
This case can be indicative: law enforcement officers demonstrate that silence in top corruption will also have consequences.
