The commander of the United Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Sodol, spoke in the parliament with a worried statement regarding the insufficient number of personnel in the army. He emphasized that this problem is becoming key for the defense forces of Ukraine. In his speech, he noted that the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of troops, which he heads, has a shortage of personnel, which seriously limits their capabilities at the front.
Sodol explained that units, which usually have 8-10 people, now often consist of only 2-4 soldiers. This leads to a significant reduction in defense effectiveness, especially with the emergence of new threats such as kamikaze drones and FPV drones. He emphasized that the main burden falls on the personnel of mechanized and infantry units.
According to the commander, with an insufficient number of fighters in military units, it is difficult to ensure effective defense on the entire front. He expressed indignation at the fact that the relevant brigades have to defend a much smaller territory than stipulated by the regulations.
Sodol called on people's deputies to adopt a draft law on mobilization in order to ensure the necessary number of soldiers for the army and ensure effective defense of the country.
