The 110 separate mechanized brigade named after Mark Bezruchka exposed a large -scale corruption scheme with fictitious combat allowances. According to the investigation, more than 50 servicemen received financial support for participation in hostilities that were not actually not.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, only four defendants - three drivers and a repair shop worker - illegally received more than UAH 5.3 million for allegedly a business trip. In fact, they were in the rear, and part of the allowances were transferred to the management of the unit.
The scheme was struck by the deputy commander of the brigade, who, according to the investigation, not only organized payments, but also systematically collected outfits from the military. He received suspicion at a few serious articles, including:
-
creation of a criminal organization;
-
waste of property in particularly large sizes;
-
excess of power in the conditions of martial law;
-
official forgery;
-
the abduction of weapons and illegal imprisonment.
His accomplice - commander of the material support group - was detained in January 2025, and five more soldiers are considered to be direct participants in the criminal organization. They are charged with participation in budgeting, official forgery and evasion.
According to preliminary estimates, the state lost tens of millions of hryvnias. As part of the DBR investigation, it checks about 50 more similar cases of dummy stay on the front.
During the searches, the organizer of the scheme was seized about 7 million hryvnias, which have already been transferred to the Agency for the search and management of assets (ARMA). He was also seized on his real estate and property.
The sanctions of the articles for which suspicions are subject to 15 years in prison with confiscation.
This story is another reminder of how vulnerable the financial reporting and control system remains even during the war. Schemes on combat surcharges not only harm the budget, but also demoralize real fighters who risk life on the front line.
