The Cabinet of Ministers submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law aimed at improving mobilization and military registration in Ukraine. However, an important step in strengthening the country's defense capability became the object of consideration by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Verkhovna Rada.
At the committee's report, People's Deputy Oleksiy Goncharenko noted that the draft law on mobilization presented by the government contains corruption risks. This statement causes serious indignation and emphasizes the need for careful analysis and improvement of the legislative act before its adoption.
Another important aspect covered by the media was the spread of information that the Office of the President is considering a proposal to reserve high-paid men from the army, noting that such persons pay more taxes. Verkhovna Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk decided to deny this information, claiming that such a provision does not exist in the new draft law on mobilization.
Controversial points in the draft law, identified by the Anti-Corruption Committee, may affect the way of its further consideration and adoption. Ensuring transparency and excluding corrupt elements in such strategic issues as mobilization is important for ensuring the effective functioning of the national defense system and public trust.
