Military servicemen in Ukraine serving under a contract have the right to receive compensation for housing rent, as well as lifting allowance in case of moving to a new place of service. These payments are an important support for the military, but are not available to mobilized service members, which may encourage contract service.
Compensation for housing rent
Subletting compensation is paid to military personnel who do not have their own housing in the region of service. The amount depends on the location of the military unit:
- Kyiv - UAH 4,560 per month
- Regional centers - UAH 3,420 per month
- Other settlements - UAH 2,280 per month
If a serviceman has three or more family members, the amount of compensation increases one and a half times, which allows to ensure proper living conditions for the family of a serviceman.
In order to issue compensation for sublease, you must:
- Submit a report indicating the reason for the need for subletting.
- Submit the documents stipulated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution No. 450, including:
- a certificate about the lack of own housing,
- a copy of the lease agreement,
- documents confirming the composition of the family.
Upgrading payments when moving
"Pydyomni" is a one-time allowance paid to servicemen in case of moving to a new place of service. This payment is available in the following cases:
- appointment to a new position in another settlement,
- enrollment in studies for more than 6 months,
- relocation of part,
- appointment to a position after completing studies.
The size of the lifting allowance is the monthly allowance of the serviceman plus 50% of this amount for each family member who moves with him. Per diems for moving days are also paid. If, for example, the family consists of a wife and two children, then the payment will include a monthly military allowance and additional payments for family members.
Lifting assistance can be received no more than twice a year, even in case of frequent changes of duty station. If both spouses are in the military, each has the right to receive benefits.
How to apply
A serviceman submits a report on receiving sub-hire compensation or lifting assistance to the commander of a military unit. Necessary documents are attached to the report, and the payment, after approval, is sent to the soldier's bank account.
