During martial law in Ukraine, certain categories of citizens have restrictions on traveling outside the country. Restrictions also apply to some women who hold public or military positions.
According to the Law of Ukraine “On Military Duty and Military Service”, the prohibition on the crossing of the border without a special permission applies:
-
civil servants;
-
deputies of all levels;
-
Contract servicemen.
Such women can leave Ukraine exclusively in the presence of a business trip.
At the same time, the rest of Ukrainian women, including medical workers and military accounting, are allowed to cross the border. However, in some cases, they may need additional documents - for example, a certificate of work or confirmation of minor children on maintenance.
At the same time, the mobilization of women in Ukraine remains voluntary: accession to the army is possible only under contract. Women are not forced to service at this time.
We will remind that since January 2025 President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed changes to the legislation on military accounting for women. From now on, the Ukrainian women who have been registered with their own request are equated with the conscripts. This means that they apply the same responsibilities as men during martial law.
Thus, restrictions on traveling abroad are relevant not only for men, but also for certain categories of women who carry public or military service.
