On October 12, a shooting took place near one of the cafes in Sofiivska Borshchagivka, not far from Kyiv, as a result of which a 34-year-old off-duty police officer was injured. The National Police of Ukraine reported the incident.
The incident happened after a conflict arose between women in the institution. The men accompanying them intervened in the dispute, which escalated the situation. One of the participants in the conflict shot his opponent three times, probably using a traumatic weapon.
When the law enforcement officers arrived, the policeman was injured and was immediately hospitalized. His condition is currently under investigation, but it is clear that the incident has caused considerable concern among local residents.
The law enforcement officers quickly established the identity of the intruder, the weapon was recovered. An investigation is underway to provide a legal qualification of the incident.
This case is yet another confirmation of the increase in violence in society, because recently another tragic event took place in the Brovary district of the Kyiv region: during a call about domestic violence, a man rushed at the police with an ax. Such incidents call into question the safety of law enforcement officers and local residents.
