During the week from May 17 to May 23, passenger traffic across the Ukrainian border amounted to 499 thousand people, which is 1.6% more than a week earlier. Such data were provided by the State Border Service of Ukraine.
According to statistics, 254 thousand people left Ukraine (an increase of 0.8%), and 245 thousand (growth by 2.5%) came out. Thus, the number of those who left the country is still exceeding the number of those who have returned.
The number of vehicles that crossed the border increased from 123 to 125 thousand. At the same time, the number of humanitarian cargoes, on the contrary, decreased slightly - from 526 to 517 cars.
As of 15:00 Sunday, May 23, the biggest queues were recorded on the border with Poland: at the checkpoint "Ustilug" stood 25 cars, in "Krakivka" and "Shegini" - 10. In the Hungarian direction in "Tisza" there were 10 cars, and in "Uzhgorod" on the border.
This year's dynamics corresponds to last year's: at the same period of 2024, 254 thousand people left Ukraine, and 239 thousand came. However, the volume of transport traffic last year was lower - 115 thousand cars.
According to the SSSU, last year from the last week of May, the seasonal growth of passenger traffic began, which lasted at least six weeks in a row. Whether this trend will happen this year - the beginning of summer will show.
