Cortizole abdomen: as stress turns our belly into a "rescue circle" and what to do with that

In the modern rhythm of life, a high level of stress has become almost the norm. But when it becomes chronic, the body begins to respond - sometimes completely unexpected. One of the manifestations of protracted emotional exhaustion is the so -called cortizole stomach - the accumulation of fat in the waist area, which is difficult to be corrected.

This condition is not a medical diagnosis, but it is increasingly appeared in conversations of doctors and coaches. It is an excess of visceral fat, which accumulates both inside the abdominal cavity and outside, in response to a constantly increased level of cortisol - the hormone of stress.

Why does a cortizol stomach appear?

Cortisol is a natural hormone that regulates metabolism, an immune response and a response to stress. But with constant nervous tension, it begins to work against us: stimulates fat deposition in the abdomen. Such fat is metabolically active and dangerous: it is associated with the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, insulin resistance.

Diet will not help: A comprehensive approach is required

Cortizole abdomen is almost not amenable to classic diets or exhausting workout. In the fight against it, it is important not to lose weight at all costs, but to balance the hormonal background.

Here is the basic anti -crisis plan:

  • To eliminate or reduce stress factors - psychologist, relaxation techniques, change of environment.

  • Normalize sleep - at least 7-8 hours a day.

  • Follow a balanced diet with a low glycemic index, avoid sharp insulin jumps.

  • To attract moderate physical activity that does not deplete, but rather reduce cortisol.

What to do instead of intense sports?

Paradoxically, high -intensity workouts can aggravate the situation: in people with chronic stress, they often cause even more exhaustion and hormonal breakdown.

The best options are:

  • Simple multidimensional exercises: squats, push -ups, bar.

  • Slow walking - 18 minutes three times a week can already reduce cortisol by 15%.

  • Yoga, Pilates, breathing practices are effective for stabilizing the nervous system.

Stress under control - stomach under control

Cortilizol abdomen is not a sentence. It is a signal that the body does not cope with voltage. And if you change the approach - not only to the body, but also to life in general - the result will not wait.
