Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) detained the Acting City Mayor and the deputy of the city council of one of the cities of Rivne region for demanding a bribe.
This was reported by the DBR press service.
According to the investigation, the detainees demanded to transfer 3.8 hectares of land to the local entrepreneur free of charge. Instead, the mayor promised to ensure that the City Council made for businessman's decisions:
- Approval of town planning documentation,
- change in the purpose of other land plots,
- assignment of addresses of real estate.
The key role in the scheme was played by the deputy of the City Council, who in parallel held the position of chief engineer for the protection and protection of forest in one of the enterprises of the SGP "Forests of Ukraine". He helped to legalize the scheme and pass the land under the control of the mayor.
On February 24, a private notary has already prepared all the documents for the alienation of the land, but at this point the law enforcement officers conducted an operation and detained all participants of the corruption scheme.
The chairman and the deputy were informed about the suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - receiving an official benefit by an official in particularly large amount.
The maximum punishment is up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The DBR continues the investigation to establish possible other participants in the criminal scheme.
Recall that the Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Anti -Corruption Court (VAKS) on the confiscation of property for UAH 5.8 million used by the head of the settlement community in Rivne region.
