Corruption scheme in the army: former commander for money "sold" vacations to subordinates

The former division commander of one of the military units that performed combat missions was in a corruption scandal. According to law enforcement officers, he organized a scheme in which he sold his subordinate vacation, hiding their absence from command.

Servicemen who wanted to take a vacation paid not money, but household and computer equipment. The total amount of undue benefit amounted to almost UAH 1 million.

This was reported in the office of the Prosecutor General, noting that the prosecutors of the Kherson Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Southern Region reported the officer about the suspicion of exceeding their official powers, demanding and receiving undue benefits.

According to the investigation, the suspect, being a division commander, established a mechanism for receiving bribes: he allowed the military to go on vacation provided "redemption", hiding their absence from senior management. For the "service" subordinates bought for him household and computer equipment.

During searches, the officer found illegally received property and documents confirming his involvement in the crime.

Law enforcement officers detained the lieutenant colonel. The issue of choosing a pre -trial detention is currently being resolved. The investigation is ongoing.
