Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk scored an impressive victory in the quarterfinals of the tournament in Stuttgart, defeating the world's third-ranked American Cori Dionne Hoffe in three sets - 3:6, 6:4, 7:6 (8:6). Kostyuk admitted that this success was the result of a great willpower struggle and persistent preparation.
“For me, it’s an incredible feeling to be in the semifinals. As for my game this year, I think it’s not about any radical changes, but about paying attention to the little things that together create a holistic image. It was just a matter of patience and a lot of hard work, a lot of tears and maybe a little doubt… It all came together. I’m grateful to my coaching staff for their support today. Before the semifinal match against Marketa Vondrousova, my task is to recover, both physically and psychologically. This week has been very difficult, with games every day and a very late finish. With each passing day, the time for recovery is getting shorter, but I will do my best to have another successful match,” said Kostyuk.
The tournament in Stuttgart on April 21 has a prize pool of $922.5 thousand.
