Against the background of the aggravation of the situation in Ukraine, the countries of the "Great Seven" (G7) issued a statement in which they expressed serious concern over the escalation of hostilities and the humanitarian crisis. In response to the current challenges, the G7 announced its intention to transfer financial assistance of 50 billion dollars to Kyiv by the end of 2024.
This is stated in a joint statement following the meeting of foreign ministers of the G7 countries in Italy, Voice of America reports.
Allies emphasized plans to quickly provide Kiev with a $50 billion loan, which will be repaid with profits from Russian assets frozen in the West.
"Europe should send the funds of this loan to Ukraine as soon as possible. We are obliged, as allies and friends of Ukraine, to do everything to allow it to enter, when the time comes and at the time they choose, peace negotiations from a position of strength. This means the continuation and emphasis on our efforts in the financial sphere, first of all, sending 50 billion dollars as soon as possible at the expense of frozen Russian assets, so that Ukraine can use them and avoid liquidity problems related to military actions," the minister said Minister of Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Noel Barro.
