Moscow put forward ultimatic requirements for the end of the war against Ukraine: "denacification" and the resignation of President Vladimir Zelensky. About it reports The New York Times with reference to sources in diplomatic circles.
According to NYT, Russia is no longer satisfied only by the cessation of fire. It requires a radical revision of Ukraine's domestic policy, including changing leadership, which, in fact, means capitulation conditions.
The former and probably future US President Donald Trump has made a clear understanding of Friday: if one of the parties (including Ukraine) "complicates" negotiations, the US will simply get out of the process.
"We will just say, 'You're stupid. You are horrible people." And we will just give up, ”Trump said.
According to NYT, the United States has developed a plan of partial ceasefire, including restrictions on energy infrastructure and in the Black Sea. However, none of the arrangements worked - the Russians were delayed and exhibited new conditions.
At the same time, in Washington, less attention is paid to Ukraine. According to journalists, there is no active discussion of new weapons packages, and the exchange of intelligence can be curtailed.
European allies, who met with Steve Vitcoffim - Trump representative in the Russian Federation, received no guarantees for further support of Ukraine. Unlike the rhetoric of 2022–2023, today in the US they say, “What do we get?”, And not “How can we help?”.
At the same time, Russia insists that within the framework of a possible agreement to recognize its control over the Crimea, parts of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions.
In fact, the United States does not reject the script for which Ukraine will remain on its own with Russia, and Europe will have to support Kiev independently. In such circumstances, any negotiations can turn into a pressure tool, not a compromise.
President Zelensky has already stated that he would not accept the conditions of Moscow and will not concede to Ukrainian territories. But Trump's statement and Russia's actions are a signal: "Game Changed", and new rules can be much tougher for Kiev.
