How to assess the competence of a combrig?
A competent command brigade organizes the defeat of the enemy by managing units and interaction between batteries, drones, infantry, armored vehicles, communications and determines the priority of targets and the expediency of spending ammunition. The evaluation of his results is the number of video defeats by all units of his brigade.
An incompetent commander looks at the streams, sees the target and takes control of the damage himself, tells where to fly the drones, how the artillery and mortars should fire, adjusts himself, on the air such a commander has a mess, he creates psychosis in his subordinates, because he wants everything now. But accurate hits require careful planning. Such combrigs think that the war is going on thanks to them, they see only themselves everywhere, and subordinates are imperfect tools for them. When such brigades are constantly playing soldiers, such brigades do not have time to manage tactical actions, plan, listen to people. And there is no time to learn something ourselves.
This came to my mind on the example of one brigade in an important direction, where a completely competent commander was recently replaced - and now the new commander is shooting at streams by himself. I see in this the lack of clear criteria for evaluating the competence of unit commanders in the military-political leadership.
We have many commanders who are focused on achieving the main result — maximizing enemy losses and minimizing their own losses. These are the ones that are worthy of promotion, and the others need to be changed, or should be changed.
