Where do anti-corruption journalists disappear during mobilization

In the conditions of war, the role of journalists and activists, who are looking for "evaders" from mobilization, acquires special importance. In particular, media such as "Bihus.info", "SCHEMY", "Ukrainian Pravda", "Radio Svoboda" act as those that highlight violations of the law and emphasize the need for general mobilization. However, are all those who point out the problems in the country held to the same standards?

A clear example is the journalist Oleksandr Lemenov, an activist and author of investigations, who, it would seem, should be an example for others in matters of mobilization and national security. However, his own actions cast doubt on his principles and public statements.

Lemenov has been a reserve officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2011. However, despite his military status, he failed to report to the TCC during general mobilization to update his credentials, which is a violation of mobilization legislation. It is known that in 2023 he tried to avoid a summons, even escaping through a window when TCC officers came to his home.

But not only the avoidance of mobilization became the subject of public criticism. After Lemenov eventually received a medical certificate confirming his fitness for service, he was still not drafted to the front. Officially, this is justified by the fact that it is included in the reserve of the reconnaissance part of the MoU. However, there are serious suspicions that this is just a formality that allows you to avoid real service.

Such an attitude towards mobilization from a person who acts as a corruption whistleblower and a fighter for justice is not only indignant, but also raises doubts about his true commitment to the cause. After all, the real struggle for the country is not only accusations of corruption on the screens, but also the willingness to act in the name of protecting the homeland. At the same time, while journalists and activists call others to action, they must first hold themselves to the same standards they set for others.
