Former Bankova adviser Oleksiy Arestovych expressed concern about the situation in the Pokrovsky direction, noting that the current hostilities could significantly affect the strategic situation in the Donetsk region. In the face of increasing attacks from the enemy, the Ukrainian military may face serious challenges in defending their positions.
The Ukrainian authorities' "Kursk holiday" is ending due to the situation in the Pokrovsky direction, believes former Bankova adviser Oleksiy Arestovych.
"The enemy has cut the Pokrovsk-Karlivka highway. His intentions are obvious: the Pokrovsk salient is being destroyed in order to cut off Kurakhiv and Torets with flanking strikes. Thus, if he succeeds, the enemy will seize the central regions of the Donetsk region, which are the southernmost of those still under our control," he wrote.
According to the former adviser, the pace of the Russian Federation's advance in the Pokrovsky direction "cannot be called anything other than an operational crisis for us.".
The lack of troops in the Russian Federation may stop this, but it is also unclear whether the Armed Forces of Ukraine will have enough forces to thwart these plans, says Arestovych.
"In the troops, and this is the worst part, rumors are spreading that the Donetsk region is simply being handed over by agreement with the Kremlin - and this is a sign of very serious demoralization," wrote the former advisor to the President's Office.
