Bankova's former advisor, Oleksiy Arestovych, expressed concern about the situation in the Pokrovsk region, noting that the current hostilities could significantly affect the strategic situation in the Donetsk region. In the conditions of increased attacks by the enemy, the Ukrainian military may face serious challenges in defending their positions.
The "Kursk holiday" of the Ukrainian government is ending because of the situation in the Pokrovsk region, believes the former advisor of Bankova, Oleksiy Arestovych.
"The enemy cut the Pokrovsk - Karlivka highway. His intentions are obvious: that is why the Pokrovsky ledge is killed, in order to cut off Kurakhivskyi and Toretskyi with flanking strikes. Thus, if he succeeds, the enemy will capture the central regions of Donetsk region, which are the southern ones still under our control," he wrote.
According to the former adviser, the pace of the Russian advance in the Pokrovsky direction "can't be called anything other than an operational crisis for us."
The lack of troops in the Russian Federation can stop this, but it is not clear whether the Armed Forces will have enough strength to thwart these plans, Arestovych says.
"In the army, and this is the worst, there are rumors that the Donetsk region is simply being surrendered to a deal with the Kremlin - and this is a sign of very serious demoralization," wrote a former adviser to the President's Office.
