The United States is unlikely to be able to provide Ukraine with significant new ATACMS missiles due to limited supplies and a long production lead time. As CNN reports, a US official confirmed that in the conditions of modern warfare, Kyiv cannot count on the rapid arrival of this important defense weapon.
He also stated that many of Ukraine's targets in Russia are outside the ATACMS range because the Russian military has withdrawn its weapons from there. This primarily concerns aircraft that launch glide bombs.
According to the TV channel, Ukrainian Defense Minister Umerov has already handed over to the Biden administration a list of targets on Russian territory where Kyiv proposes to strike - if the US lifts the ban on long-range strikes on Russian territory with American weapons.
"We explained what capabilities we need to protect citizens from the Russian terror that the Russians are inflicting on us, so I hope we were heard," Umerov said in an interview with CNN.
However, the US has no intention of lifting its bans, the channel adds.
