In the Kyiv region, law enforcement officers have uncovered a criminal group that was engaged in the illegal cultivation of hemp and the sale of manufactured cannabis. According to the National Police, the value of the seized drugs at "black" market prices exceeds 15 million hryvnias.
Two residents of the region, aged 40 and 42, organized a drug business. They involved another accomplice in the case, together developing a detailed scheme for obtaining illegal profits. To disguise their illegal activities, the perpetrators fenced off the land with a high fence and ensured 24-hour watering of the plants. Subsequently, the hemp was dried and stored in a specially equipped room, after which they made cannabis from it.
During the searches, conducted with the support of the TOR patrol police battalion, law enforcement officers seized more than 400 hemp bushes, 60 kilograms of cannabis, electronic scales, computer equipment, mobile phones, SIM cards, money, and cars.
Three members of the group were detained. All of them were notified of suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, in particular, for the illegal production and sale of narcotic drugs in particularly large quantities, as well as for the cultivation and cultivation of cannabis.
The court chose a preventive measure for the suspects in the form of detention without the right to post bail. The perpetrators face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
