Explosions began in Kyiv immediately after an airstrike was declared in the city. The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that they had destroyed two ballistic missiles flying from occupied Crimea.
Eyewitnesses report at least four explosions, huge columns of smoke are visible over the city. The destruction of the premises of the Academy of Arts and at least ten injuries are known. A person may be under the rubble.
“Explosions in the capital. Urgently take cover!” – Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko first wrote.
BBC Ukraine correspondents heard the explosions just a second or two after the sirens.
Such a strike on Kyiv without an alarm at least a minute before the strike happened, perhaps not for the first time. Previously, with strikes with "daggers" or other ballistic missiles, at least half a minute or a minute passed from the moment of the alarm to the strike.
Telegram channels specializing in alarms suggest that the strike could have been carried out from the coastal missile complex “Bastion” with “Onyx” missiles from Crimea. There are also assumptions about the “Zircon” missiles, which have already been used to strike Kyiv before during combined strikes. It is ballistic and has already been launched at Kyiv from Crimea.

The Air Force does not yet know what kind of ballistic missiles they were. “The type is being determined,” their statement said.
The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that debris fell on a three-story non-residential building in the Pechersk district.

Later, it turned out that the destroyed building was part of the M. Boychuk Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design.
"The central part of the building was destroyed. In particular, the sports hall, congress hall, and exhibition center were completely destroyed. The departmental premises and the auditorium of the institution also suffered significant damage," the Ministry of Culture said in a statement.
“Next to the destroyed building of the state educational institution is a dormitory where there were many people. Fortunately, there is no destruction there and no one was injured,” Klitschko wrote.

Acting Minister of Culture Rostyslav Karandeyev writes that due to the speed of the impact, students and teachers did not have time to go down to the shelter, but they were lucky that “the fragments hit neighboring rooms.”.
The mayor reported ten injured people in Pechersk. One woman and a 16-year-old girl were hospitalized.
Three women, two of whom are pregnant, have “acute stress reactions,” said Serhiy Popko, head of the KMVA.
Among the injured who were taken to the hospital was the head of the laboratory, Karandeyev said. He did not specify her condition.
There may be a person under the rubble, the State Emergency Service says.
Klitschko says that emergency services were also called to the Solomyanskyi district, where, according to the Kyiv City State Administration, debris damaged a multi-story building.
Debris was also found in a forest belt in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv. No information about victims or destruction was received from there.
