The vice-rector of a local university was detained in Kyiv for attempting to bribe a student. The official demanded $2,000 from an applicant in exchange for admission to graduate school, which allowed the young man to receive a deferment from mobilization. The National Police of Ukraine reported this.
The vice-rector of a metropolitan university has been detained for helping an applicant enroll in graduate school for two thousand dollars and thus avoid mobilization. This was reported by the Kyiv police.
Kyiv police investigators, together with USR operatives, exposed the vice-rector for educational, scientific and production issues of one of the capital's universities, who for $2,000 “resolved issues” regarding the enrollment of applicants for studies
A man approached the vice-rector with the intention of enrolling in a postgraduate course at a higher educational institution. In this way, he wanted to obtain a basis for deferring his military service. The vice-rector assured the man that he would be successfully enrolled in the course by influencing the members of the examination committee, provided that he paid him 2 thousand dollars.
Law enforcement officers detained a university official while accepting a bribe and informed him of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of influence.
He faces up to eight years in prison.
