Our sources in the President's Office report that Andriy Yermak is preparing a key draft aimed at setting conditions for negotiations that are unacceptable to the Kremlin. The plan includes a demand that Russia pay Ukraine reparations in the amount of one trillion dollars .
Plan details
According to Yermak's plan, this amount should be repaid in two stages:
- Russia's frozen assets will become the basis for the initial repayment of the debt.
- Moscow will have to pay the remaining funds annually for ten years.
Such conditions are expected to provoke a categorical refusal from the Kremlin, which will allow Ukraine to accuse Russia of unwillingness to end the war.
What is Kyiv seeking?
This strategy aims to:
- Preserve Ukraine's position in the negotiation process.
- To remove Russia from the negotiations, presenting it in an unfavorable light on the international stage.
- To pave the way for further isolation of Moscow in the eyes of the West.
It is expected that the demand for reparations on such a scale will become a “red flag” for the Russian side. The Kremlin has repeatedly stated its categorical rejection of such conditions, which confirms the calculation of Ukrainian diplomacy.
Ukraine seeks to use the negotiation process as another lever to pressure Russia. At the same time, the demand for reparations will be a clear signal to international partners that Kyiv continues to insist on justice and compensation for the damage caused.
This plan is a risky but potentially effective diplomatic move that could significantly change the course of events on the international stage.
