By the end of 2025, Kyiv region plans to complete a large-scale modernization of the regional warning system. This was announced by the head of the Kyiv regional military administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, following a working meeting with representatives of the State Emergency Service, the Concern for Radio Broadcasting, Communications and Television, as well as security experts.
The goal of the project is to create a modern automated system that will operate in every community in the region. A key feature of the new model is the ability to trigger sirens locally. This means that the alert will sound only where there is a real threat, and not throughout the entire region at the same time.
According to Kalashnik, the system will be equipped with three independent signal transmission channels and will be able to operate autonomously for up to seven days — without power supply and communication. It also includes rechargeable batteries and high resistance to external interference. Thanks to this, even in critical conditions, communities will be able to act independently.
As part of the modernization, the technical infrastructure will be completely updated: new equipment, digital communication channels, backup power supplies and secure data transmission will be installed. If an emergency shutdown occurs, the system will automatically switch to backup power and continue operation without the need for human intervention.
Modernization of the system is part of an all-Ukrainian initiative to increase the efficiency of notifying the population of danger in conditions of military threat.
