"Kinzhal" missiles proved to be vulnerable to the air defense system belonging to Ukraine, the former supreme commander of NATO's combined armed forces in Europe, General Philip Breedlove, said. Noting that this event went down in history, he expressed his belief that Ukrainian air defense proved to be effective against hypersonic missiles.
"Ukraine was able to shoot down these Dagger missiles. It went down in history. We found out that they are not invulnerable, as Putin once said," he emphasized in an interview with "Voice of America". Breedlove also noted that Ukrainian air defense systems were successfully used against the latest versions of Patriot missiles and other systems.
The general added that during Russia's latest attack on Ukraine, Russian forces used sophisticated tactics, attacking first with less powerful drones and then launching more powerful missiles and hypersonic Daggers in the third stage.
Breedlove expressed indignation that Ukraine's defense capabilities are limited compared to the size of the country. Noting that the resources given to Ukraine are insufficient for the necessary protection, he called for more capabilities, including sensors, radars and control points.
