Kyiv residents who have summer cottages or houses with stove heating are advised to consider temporarily moving there in case of interruptions in centralized heating this winter.
This advice was given by a drone and communications specialist known as "Flash." According to him, in the event of critical problems in the power system, the temperature in Kyiv residents' apartments can drop to +5…+10°C, depending on weather conditions.
"Using electric heaters in such conditions can lead to network overload and forced power outages — every few hours. If someone has dachas with stoves or relatives in villages, it's worth thinking about a backup plan," the expert noted.
He also urged residents of the capital to prepare for winter in advance — in particular, to join forces with neighbors to jointly purchase generators, heaters, warm blankets, and fuel.
At the same time, "Flash" emphasized that there should be no problems with food, water supply, and communications. However, emergency preparedness, in his opinion, should be "at the level of last winter or even higher."
Kyiv City Hall previously stated that energy workers are preparing for the heating season under martial law, but residents are urged to have backup sources of heat and light.
