Customs officers prevented the illegal export of cultural values from Ukraine: a Kyiv resident tried to send 17 medieval coins to Poland without the appropriate documents.
The Solomyanskyi District Court of Kyiv found a numismatist in the capital guilty of violating customs rules. During the inspection of an international postal item at the Ukrposhta logistics center, customs officers discovered ancient coins. The seller did not provide any permits required for the export of cultural values abroad.
The court found that the citizen violated the requirements of the law regarding the movement of cultural values across the customs border. To export such items, a special certificate from the Ministry of Culture is required, without which the shipment is prohibited.
The actions of the violator are qualified under Part 2 of Article 473 of the Customs Code of Ukraine – sending prohibited goods in international postal items.
The numismatist was found guilty, the coins were confiscated, and a court fee of UAH 665.60 was levied on him.
