While Donald Trump is preparing to return to the White House, Kyiv is actively looking for ways to convince him to support Ukraine. Given his ambiguous position, Ukrainian politicians and experts are trying to reformulate their proposal in terms close to Trump's rhetoric: from the slogan "Make America Great Again" to the economic benefits of cooperation with Ukraine.
Ukraine positions itself not only as a country in need of help, but as an important partner capable of strengthening the position of the United States in the world. As People's Deputy Volodymyr Aryev noted, the protection of Ukraine is the key to preserving the image of the United States as a global guarantor of security.
"Supporting Ukraine is not charity. This is a strategic interest that helps the US remain the leader of global security," Ukrainian diplomats emphasize.
Ukraine is also focusing on its natural wealth, in particular deposits of lithium, a metal needed for the production of batteries and microchips. Volodymyr Vasyuk, an industry expert, said that Ukraine can become an important partner for the Western world in the field of high technologies.
"Control over lithium is control over the economy of the future. For the US, this is a chance to gain access to strategically important resources that are better left in the hands of a friendly country than to allow them to go to Russia," Vasyuk said.
Ukraine not only counts on the support of the Trump administration, but also seeks to find allies among his supporters. Senator Lindsey Graham has already emphasized the economic potential of Ukraine, calling it a source of rare earth minerals worth trillions of dollars.
Arguments in favor of cooperation with Ukraine may interest even Elon Musk, who is criticized for his anti-Ukrainian statements. The topic with lithium, according to American analysts, could become the key to establishing a dialogue with him and other skeptics.
