Stanislav Ignatiev, an energy expert and chairman of the Council of the Ukrainian Renewable Energy Association, warned of possible significant power outages in Kyiv and other large cities of Ukraine this winter. According to him, if the average daily temperature drops to -10°C, the capital and other cities may remain without electricity for up to 10-12 hours a day.
This development is a consequence of the complex situation in the energy system, which is already experiencing the consequences of attacks on infrastructure. Ignatiev noted that energy consumption in the winter period increases significantly, which can cause additional loads on the power grid, which is not always able to withstand them. Therefore, it is necessary to be prepared for frequent power outages, especially during the peak of cold weather.
