A telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin may mean the creation of a "pact without witnesses" - an agreement from which European partners are deliberately excluded. About it writes the Italian newspaper La Stampa, analyzing new signals from Washington and Moscow.
According to the newspaper, both leaders seek to withdraw the EU from the negotiation process to resolve the war in Ukraine. The straight line between Washington and Moscow "also serves this purpose - to cut Europeans from influencing negotiations against Ukraine."
Journalists believe that Ukraine is most affected by such arrangements. The country was in the most difficult situation in three and a half years of war - due to the increase in military pressure from Russia, cooling interest from the United States and insufficient level of support from the European Union.
"For Ukraine, this is the most difficult moment from the beginning of a full -scale invasion," La Stampa sums up.
We will remind, after talking to Putin, Donald Trump stated that he did not see progress in the peaceful process around Ukraine. Although the United States continues to provide military assistance, the US President emphasized: "At first we must be sure that the ammunition will be enough."
