A study of the Ukrainian labor market conducted by the European Business Association found that three-quarters of employers are experiencing a staff shortage in the country. This is significantly higher than the 55% figure recorded in the fall of 2023.
“74% of respondents indicated that they currently experience a staffing shortage, 17% experience a partial staffing shortage, and 7% do not experience a staffing shortage,” the study results show.
In addition, among the main problems in the labor market in Ukraine, respondents also identified a shortage of talent and the outflow of qualified personnel abroad, as well as a lack of specialists with knowledge of English.
Also, among the problems for the labor market, mobilization, the desire to work remotely, burnout and fatigue, the unwillingness of recruiters and employers to cooperate with candidates 40+, a low level of inclusiveness, the lack of strategic management of demographic processes, the redistribution of labor forces within the country, business operations in the "gray" field, the disparity between candidates' salary expectations and the financial capabilities of the business, and the official employment of those liable for military service were identified.
The study involved 109 HR professionals. Over 60% of participants will represent international businesses. 50% of companies are large businesses, 43% are medium-sized and 7% are small businesses.
The largest number of participants in the study represent wholesale and retail trade, the pharmaceutical sector, food production, and specialized consulting services.
The study was conducted between February and April 2024 and covered the period August 2023 – April 2024.
