An incident occurred at the Odessa Zoo this morning that shocked the city. A leopard, while in an enclosure, attacked one of the employees of the facility during cleaning. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odessa region.
When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene of the incident, which was reported by the zoo director, they found another employee in the enclosure who was trying to help the injured person and also found himself trapped.
To save people's lives, police were forced to use weapons and neutralize the animal, the report says.
The injured man was taken to the hospital with multiple wounds to his head, neck, and limbs. The legal qualification of the incident will be provided later.
The Odessa City Council informs that the wounded person is being provided with all necessary medical assistance.
The local Telegram channel “F***ing Odesa” wrote that the leopard scalped a worker who was feeding the predator, bit his neck, and escaped.
At the same time, the Telegram channel “Novosti Odessa” denies the information that the animal escaped.
The Dumskaya publication adds that the State Emergency Service employees had to use a hydraulic tool to cut out part of the cage because the animal would not let the injured person out.
