A lightning strike in the Khmelnytskyi region caused a large-scale fire in a religious building. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported the incident.
The extraordinary event occurred after a lightning strike during a thunderstorm. The flames instantly engulfed a significant part of the building - the total area of the fire was 250 square meters. The roof was most damaged, which partially collapsed, complicating the work of firefighters. New fire centers formed under the rubble.
Rescuers operated in extreme conditions, but they reacted quickly and were able to localize the fire, preventing it from spreading to other structures. The fire was completely extinguished.
Despite the serious damage, there were no injuries or fatalities. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated, but the preliminary cause is believed to be a direct lightning strike.
